Meaning Behind the Name
Taotao Tasi translates to "People of the Sea" in the Chamoru language, spoken by the indigenous people of Guam. They were devoted students of the ocean and were masters of navigation.
Today, Taotao Tasi lives on in those who share a deep connection with the ocean - divers, surfers, scientists, and explorers alike. The ocean is where we find freedom and purpose.
The expeditions that will be hosted here are a means to reconnect back to the sea. Bringing awawreness of the beautiful place that many people have not been able to experience. Teaching people that it is not a place to be feared but a place of happiness. The ocean provides a lot to us so it is important that we understand conservation and sustainability so that the next generation can still live from it.
How We Started
Philip, born and raised on the island of Guam, have always felt a deep connection to the ocean. His first expedition to Mo'orea changed his life and set him on an entirely new path. That journey ignited his desire to fully immerse himself in the underwater world, leading him to make one of the biggest decisions of his life: moving to Baja California, Mexico to work as an ocean wildlife and spearfishing guide.
In the 2 years he worked in Mexico, he had the privilege of encountering some of the ocean’s most incredible creatures, sharing unforgettable moments with fellow adventurers, and deepening his respect for the marine world. This is an incredible story you'll have to hear from Philip himself!
